Creating the launch identity for Finland's digital entertainment channel Kino.
Kino is a new digital entertainment channel launched by Nelonen Media in 2007 offering a range of feature films and classic TV series.
Appealing to the cosmopolitan viewer with a passion for popular culture, the channel aimed to be the easy face of digital TV, for those who to engage with the new digital world but are less interested in the technology behind it all.
We wanted to develop a tone of voice for the channel that was direct and friendly, letting the viewers know very clearly how to get the content they want. For the idents we worked with model makers to create a static KINO logo, which we then filmed in a series of cosmopolitan environments, capturing movement and different qualities of light. Each ident captures the KINO logo as an intriguing beacon of calm juxtaposed with frenetic and fast paced features of the location.
The channel packaging elements had to be simple, clear and modern, helping guide viewers through this confusing new digital world with simple straightforward messaging and branding.
We created the logo, on screen brand identity, audio direction and all channel packaging elements.
